Xeirotexnika Thessaly 2019 took place on April 6th & 7th at Tsalapata Complex.

Xeirotexnika Thessaly 2019 Report

After Athens, Thessaloniki and Crete, the biggest handicraft and do-it-yourself festival in Greece, visited Thessaly, and more specificaly Volos, for the first time!

During the first weekend of April, the ultra-modern Tsalapata Complex was turned into the biggest meeting point for both experienced and aspiring crafters, from every sector of handmade creating and from the whole Thessaly and the rest of Greece.

The schedule’s heart, was of course beating at the Craft Rooms where over 40 workshops took place where the participants had the chance, through professional guidance, to assmble their very own handicraft which they took home after their departure.
Those creations, will remain in each one’s personal collection as souvenirs of the magical process of creating something from scratch with your own hands!

The schedule contained choices for every taste.. papercraft, macrame, knitting, confectionery, carpentry, silver solder, calligraphy and many more, divided into 5 themed craft rooms:

And of course, all the above would never come to life without the teachers who thanks to their long time experience, helped into turning all the creations into reality: Marianna Palantza (Skag), Lila Diamantopoulou, Foteini Tataroglou (Xylo Pelekito), Valia Binikou (ftiaxto.gr), Louiza Digeni & Elisavet Armaou (The Cakers), Marianna Kontoe (Powertex), Niki Pavlaki and Elpida Zaharaki in behalf of Scholart, Melo Lychnara-Toufexi, Roula Pourpoudia and Amanda Moraiti (Amanda’s Handmade Creations)

The biggest breakthrough of the festival, was most probably the Handicraft Business Conference, where speeches about business and carreer development in the handicraft sector were delivered.
It was attended both by amateurs who wished to turn their hobby into a profession and accomplished professionals who seeked to develop their business. Both types, had the chance to get in touch and create connections with the 3 speakers who count many years of business activity in the fascinating Handicraft and Do-It-Yourself industry.
We’re talking about Zacharias Polymenakos from Creative Bizlab, Valia Binikou from ftiaxto.gr and Antony David from antonydavidphoto.com.

Of course, there were even more speeches and presentations where the festival participants were given the opportunity to share with the Xeirotexnika festival goers useful information about their activity as well as to present live and step by step the creation of unique and original handicrafts.

Finally, both local and nationwide brands were present as exhibitors, providing the visitors with a wide variety of handicraft tools and materials, always in line with the latest trends and innovations in the sector.

Special thanks to the Orchard Guesthouse for their hospitality in a warm habitat of high aesthetics and exceptional service!

These and many more took place in the biggest celebration for crafters, in 2 days full of creation and inspiration!

And since creation never stops, stay tuned for news about the next Xeirotexnika which will take place during fall in Athens!

Until the, we wish you happy handmade creations!!

Sincerely yours,
the Xeirotexnika team
